You know sometimes when you look at a piece of art and then the title and you think to yourself ‘I just don’t get it’! Well this is definately not one of those pieces.
This bright shiny figure standing on the corner of Albert and Charlotte Streets in the city says ‘Pride’ all over …… at least it does to me. The confident stride, the positioning of the head and the shinny stainless steel combine to make this a memorable piece.
And you have to be impressed with her vital statistics. Height 3.4 meters, 598 panels and 2562 rivets.
The work of sculptor Grant Lehmann ‘Pride’ was unveiled in 1999 as a gift to the city from the Miravc Group.
