The land at New Farm Park was originally cultivated to supply the convict settlement on the Brisbane River. These days its noted for its rose gardens and recreational areas and is a very popular place for picnics and family gatherings.
The Bandstand dates back to 1915 and is an excellent example of Edwardian era bandstands with its elaborate timber detailing.
You can just see the top of a hot air balloon diapering behind the trees. Poor timing on my part.
